At FBC Charleston, we believe that when we serve out of love, God is glorified. We also believe that service both inside and out of the church is key to the discipleship process, and we are committed to serving together. Here are some of the areas where you can serve at FBC Charleston. We encourage you to get plugged-in to one of these teams. Are you ready to serve? Just click the button below, fill out the form to let us know what areas you’re interested in and we will contact you. You can also call our church office at 479.965.2533 and we’ll put you in contact with the team leaders.
Bereavement Meals Team
When someone experiences the loss of a loved one, one way we can love them is providing food during a difficult time. Sometimes is taking food to the family at their home, and other times is providing a family meal after the funeral. The Bereavement Team is led by Linda Ballard.
Dinners & Socials Team
We were created to live in community and spend time together and there’s no better way than to share a meal together. Our Dinners & Socials Team helps make that happen. Throughout the year we get together for holidays and special events and this team prepares and serves the food for these events. The Dinners and Socials Team is led by Linda Ballard.
Outreach Meals Team
We believe it’s vitally important to serve our community and that’s the main purpose of the Outreach Meals Team. Whether its serving missions teams that are visiting our area, student groups from Charleston Schools (like the athletics teams and band), or community events like the South Franklin County Fair or Fall Festival, our Outreach Meals Team takes the lead in preparing and serving food. This team is led by Betty Ayers.
Meals of Love Team
When big life events happen, it’s often the little things that make the biggest impact! And we believe that one little thing we can do to love our neighbors during difficult times is to provide them with a meal to help ease the burden of worrying about what to cook for dinner. This team occasionally provides meals to those who are in need (it can either be homemade or from a restaurant). When a need comes up, we go down our list of volunteers and call or text to see if you’re available to help meet that need. We know you won’t always be available so you’ll never have to feel obligated! This team is led by Kerry Ward.
Women’s Ministry Team
The FBC Charleston Women’s Ministry is for women of all ages and in all stages of life. Their main focus is the discipleship of women and serving our church and community. We do this through Bible Studies, Prayer Group Ministry, Basket Ministry, Meals of Love Outreach, Showers and Outreach Planning. The team is led by Miranda Curbow.
Baskets of Love Team
The Baskets of Love Ministry desires to share the love of Christ with others through preparing and delivering custom-made gift baskets. Baskets are made, by request, for members of our community and of our church, including those who are experiencing illness, a hospital stay, grief/loss; who simply need encouragement; who are celebrating a special occasion; or who have visited one of our services or attended an event. The Baskets of Love ministry team periodically prepares baskets for groups, such as our members who are unable to attend services, welcome baskets for new school staff, or children who attended VBS. Opportunities for service in this ministry include buying small gift items for baskets, preparing baskets, and delivering baskets. Baskets of Love is led by Emily Hudson.
Greeting Team
The goal of the Greeting Team is to create a welcoming environment on Sunday mornings so that every person who walks through our doors, whether they are a member or a guest, feels welcomed at First Baptist Charleston. This team is led by Dale Rice.
Media Team
The Media Team is a “behind the scenes” team, but one that is very important to ministry at FBC Charleston. Our Media Team is run by volunteers who take care of the video and sound during the worship service on Sunday mornings. Prior technical experience isn’t necessary (but definitely a bonus if you have it!), we’ll show you everything you need to know.
Worship Team
The Worship Team is a group of volunteers who lead us in worship on Sunday mornings. They practice throughout the week. It’s led by Emily Hudson.
KiDs Beach Club Team
FBC Charleston partners with KiDs Beach Club® to provide 3rd and 4th grade students at Charleston Elementary with the opportunity to encounter Jesus and learn what it means to follow Him. KiDs Beach Club meets after school (3:10-4:30), once a week, throughout the school year, and we need volunteers to make it happen! KiDs Beach Club is led by Belinda Brown. All KiDs Beach Club volunteers must submit a background check.
Nursery Team
The Nursery Ministry serves our littlest members and guests (newborn – 3 yr olds). We want to provide a place of love, safety, fun and biblical learning. The Nursery is available during Sunday School and the Sunday Morning Worship Service and our volunteers serve on a rotating basis. All nursery volunteers must submit a background check.
FBC Kids Team
Our FBC Kids Team serves preschoolers through 5th graders each Sunday for Sunday School, Children’s Church (during the worship service teaching time), New Believers class, and in the summer for Vacation Bible School and Camp Siloam. As members of the FBC Kids Team, we have the opportunity to build a relationship with each child and not just tell them about the love of Christ, we can SHOW them! We want the time they spend at church to be the best part of their week! Our goal is to come alongside parents in helping them grow their children in Christ so that they come to develop a personal relationship with Him. All FBC Kids Team volunteers must submit a background check.
FBC Students Team
Our FBC Students Team serves 6th-12th graders on Sunday mornings during Sunday school, Sunday evenings for Discipleship Groups, Wednesday nights for Wednesday Night Worship, and throughout the week for various student events. There are various ways you can serve our FBC Students. To find out how you can help, contact Blaine Miller. All FBC Students volunteers must submit a background check.
